St. Petersburg Council may ask Gazprom to return to Zenith project

The St. Petersburg authorities may apply to Gazprom to finance the completion of the stadium on Krestovsky Island in the city for the Zenith football club.
The project was initially launched jointly by the city and the company, but the council took over the entire project after abandoning another joint project – the Okhta Centre. However, there is now only €308m in the city budget for the construction of the stadium, which is due to be completed this year, whereas €568m is needed in total.
Gazprom representatives have not commented on the possibility of the company’s involvement.
