The President of the Republic of Udmurtia, Aleksandr Volkov, has said that construction of a bridge over the Kama river might begin in summer 2012, according to vira.ru. The bridge will link the Republics of Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Udmurtia and the Urals regions. The cost of construction is expected to amount to RUB 14bn (€339m).
As
Russian Construction Review reported on a previous occasion, the republic found a private investor to finance 73% of the project. However, the name of the company has not been disclosed.
The bridge will be located between the village of Tarasovo and the town of Kambarka. The bridge will be 1,095 metre long and 7 metres wide, with 8-km access roads on both sides. Its construction will shorten the journey between Nizhny Novgorod and Yekaterinburg by 300 km.
