The
Renova StroyGroup, a Russian development company, has won a tender for the modernisation of Kurumoch airport – the ninth largest airport in Russia – in the Samara Province. The company is to obtain a 96.19% stake in the asset and is, therefore, committed to investing RUB 4.3bn (€108m) in its reconstruction. The terms of the tender stipulate that Renova will build a new, 35,000-m
2, passenger terminal with an annual capacity of 3.5 million passengers. Interestingly, the company has promised to implement the project by the end of 2014, which is almost two years earlier than initially expected by the organisers of the tender.
The area of the terminal will be extended to 65,000 m
2 during the second stage of the project. In addition, a new cargo terminal will be built, and existing office buildings and engineering infrastructure and communication systems rebuilt and modernised. In total Renova intends to invest RUB 12bn (€300m) in its new asset.
Kurumoch is the third airport in Renova’s portfolio: it also owns Koltsovo in Novosibirsk and Strigino in Nizhny Novgorod. Renova also intends to gain control of Rostov-on-Don airport in order to close it and build a completely new facility.
